Ceramics - Vietnam


Located in Bat Trang, an ancient traditional pottery village of Hanoi, Vietnam.They are manufacturer and specialised in fineness handcrafted ceramics products. It is now run by the 8th generation grandson, Nguyen Van Loi of the legendary Nguyen Thanh Chau, whom was designated as the Living National Treasure by the late King Le.
Loi is an innovative ceramist and in his early years he was awarded as the "Golden Hand Ceramist" in 1987 and again in 1999 by the Vietnam Handicraft Corporation and Alliance. Loi and his wife, Pham Thi Minh Chau, are well-known for their creative work in many public and private collections domestically and in overseas.
Loi's wife, Chau studied ceramics from 1976 to 1981 at the National Art University of Hanoi. As a designer-maker of ceramics she was recently awarded as the "Golden VCCI Ceramist" in 2006 by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Vietnam Corporation Alliance, and the "Best Woman Ceramic Owner" by Gia Lam Province City Office in 2005. In 1997 the Prime Minister of Vietnam certified them as the "Highest Quality Product Ceramist"
